Just saw this on outdoor life forum: "New iPhone App for Aging Whitetail Deer" http://www.fieldandstream.com/forums/announcements/new-iphone-app-aging-whitetail-deer. Just downloaded it on my phone. Pretty cool outdoor APP. My neighbor and I are logging details of our deer harvests by age to see if we are shooting older bucks. I never really knew how to tell how old the deer were but this looks like a pretty simple process using the phone. I haven't

Hey Guys,
Im all new to this stuff but I have read up on it. But I have some questions that you guys could probably answer for me. I live in Upstate NY and I read articles on what foods to plant for which season but thats only for like Iowa and Missouri etc. Im lookin for help on some food plot ideas for here.
So here it goes,
1.) A spring plot
2.) A summer/Fall plot
3.) A Winter plot.
I just need some hints on what brand and what type of foods are better for warm summers and cold and snowy winters to give the deer what they need.
Thanks!
I shot a buck this season that I have a question about. He came out behind me, I saw his rack on his right side and could tell he was a definite shooter. After I dropped him with my crossbow I came up on the deer and his rack was pretty strange. I'll try to post pics later. He was a perfect four point on his right side, and had two points going straight up on his left side. If he would have had both sides symetrical it would have been about a 20 inch spread. My question is, should I have let this buck walk so he could have grown a symetrical rack next yea
Been hunting muzzleloader season in middle and southern Ohio for years over the Christmas / New Years break and have always found it a great way to spend a little down time during the slower period of the holidays.
Ohio changed the dates of Muzzleloader season this year to be the middle of January which is going to be a tough sell to the employer.
Looking for some feedback from other Ohio hunters as to whether or not they are in favor of the change in Muzzleloader season?
Thanks
Dave
What is the best disc plow for use with an ATV or UTV? I've been looking at the GroundHog Max because of the cost, size and apparent ease of use.
Sorry for the bad pictures, was sitting in the truck when I took them. He was 45 yrds out in the field. I didn't want to spook him. I guessed him at 2 1/2 years old. Very nice young buck with potential. I hope he makes it thru this season and the next two. He should be a stud by then.

I just read this article in Time magazine about smuggling deer in Texas.
I'm all in favor of breeding bigger better bucks but I'm not happy about it being done illegally.
Thoughts?

What do you consider a management buck? Age or score? Just curious.
