Rock, I must apologies for not seeing your question earlier. I hope this is of some help to you and not late. This past spring I bought the "Bass Pro Shops" Tufline disc ($799.00) to pull with my Honda 500 (4x4) , I think the price has gone up, however. The one I purchased was the larger sized for the extra weight it had, not the flip disc. Speed was the key for me in plowing and I mean the lack of it. The slower the better, the thing bounces quite a bit at any speed at all. The ratchet hand crank worked fine and the overall performance was very good. I plowed about a 1/4 acre and had it ready for seed in about 2 hours. It was my first try at plowing anything and I had to figure everthing out. Like the turning radius and how deep to cut and if I needed extra weight (which It did). You need to keep in mind that it will take multiple passes to get the job done, but in time the seed bed will start to take shape. If you have an area that is void of tall grasses and weeds then this disc will work great in a short amount of time. If the grasses are tall I'd recommend that you either burn or mow it down. The taller stuff has a tendicency to wad up and prohibit good plowing. You will learn a great deal in putting in a plot and it will become rewarding to seeing the results.
I loaned it to friend, so he could smooth a trail across a pasture to his hunting area ( more than a 1/4 mile), and he can't stop raving about the job it did for him. He said instead of a bone jarring ride across the pasture like before he now has a nice smooth ride. Good luck
My Lord, my Wife, my kids and whitetails, what else really matters?
