Re: fill your buck tags with bow or gun??? "Big Buck Down"
If I lived a state that you could only harvest 1 buck a year, I would not care either way so long as I filled it, but for your poll, BOW Modified by encoreshooter at 8:37 PM 9/18/2008
I am obsessed with bow hunting. Its up close and personal. And takes more thought and consideration than setting up for hunting with a gun. Prior to this year season's I had already made up my mind to put away the guns this year and strictly bow hunt. My mind was quickly changed when I saw that I have 3 deer on my property that are Boone & Crocket 160+ with at least 4 others that are in the 130-140 range. Although I would much prefer to harvest these with bow, you can rest assured that I will have my gun with me during gun season, in hopes of putting a tag on one of these bad boys!
Bow without a doubt! Matter of fact, when modern gun season comes around, I get a little depressed. Because, I know all the work we put into the woods up until that point, is going to get detoured. We get one thing that the gun hunters don't get....the THRILL, RUSH, and SATISFACTION of the hunt!
Mwintz if you need any help with those monster bucks just give me a holler! :) The bow is by far the most difficult tag, but I use the gun when season is in because it improves my chances of taking a trophy buck.
The only consistent vacation I take every year is the Wisconsin Rifle season, I take the entire week off and hunt hard all week with 5 of my very good friends. I love it!!!
That being said if I could only do one or the other I would take the Bow hands down. I heard a saying on this board if you want to kill something use a gun if you want to hunt bring your bow. Even as an avid rifle hunter I have to agree there is some truth to that!
I would rather use a bow also.. I'm starting to hunt with my bow throughout rifle season here.. some of the urbanized places I can hunt hold some huge deer, and no way I would shoot a rifle or a powder gun with all those houses around..
BOW all day.. early season muzzel loader is always fun and the first days of firearms i will use my gun, but other than that I'm in it for the sport of bow hunting. Up close and personal is the way to go.

Since our gun season is only 11 days long, my odds are better with the bow so that is what I opt for each year.
Definitely my bow. I havent gun hunted in Indiana for the last 5 or 6 years.
Bow hands down.... there is nothing better then taking a buck up close and personal. Besides our state gives you four months to hunt with a bow.

Bow kills are the only impressive kills!
definetly a bow, although where i hunt in north carolina when muzzleloader comes in it will be in hand.

I def would choose Bow hands down. You have to work so much harder to get a nice buck down with a bow. The satisfaction is that much more.

I wish there was more bow hunting where i'm from. Seems like people here who's hunted the longest though prefer using a bow.
