Got some vacation time saved this year that I plan on spending doing some serious bowhunting. I'll be hunting in Northern WI and want know what would be the best time to take off. I was thinking about hunting the first week in November and was wondering what you guys thought about this time of the year.
Well, I'm in Southern IL so the timing may be slightly different but I make sure I am in the woods as much as possible between the 3rd or 4th of Nov through the 20th. Last year things started to really pop around the 5th and I took a nice 8 pointer on Nov 6th. So you are probably right on in your thinking about taking the first week of Nov off.
I'm taking 2 back to back 4 day weekeds this year to hit the woods hard. Nov 5-8 and 12-15. I already have 1 doe in the freezer from opening weekend but my guess is I'll have a buck down by the 8th.
I think things are moving more quickly this season than they did in 2008. I am already seeing some aggressivly worked scraps and have had a nice big 10 pointer that I have been hunting for 2 seasons now walk within 50 yards of my stand last Saturday at 6PM.
Goodluck and hope this helps.
i take that week off every year. If you can sit all day you should have a good time out there. I hunt 30 min north of eau claire and its usually going good that week
