This is the place to post your observations about rutting activity in Connecticut or simply find out what other hunters are seeing in the woods. Be sure to tell us the area of the state, indicate the date of the observation and describe what you've seen "bucks chasing does, fresh scrapes, etc.".

Re: Connecticut 2005 "G Whittington"

Went out Saturday 10/15 in Southern CT. Weather was light drizzle about 50 deg. Some fresh rubs but no significant increase from week before and no fresh scrapes in traditional areas. Does on the move with no bucks in tow. The pre rut has not generated the activity yet.

Was out again on Saturday the 22nd in Southern CT. Buck activity seeems to have increased with more rubs and finally some scrapes to speak of. Still not seeing bucks during the daylight but this is a semi pressured area.

Went out this past Saturday and found Rubs everywhere but very little Scrape activity. Don't understand why so few scrapes but did see a big body 4 pointer just before shooting light. It's been pretty warm here in Southern CT so I'm hoping for a snap to get things movin

Well, someone must have fired the starting gun because all heck broke out this morning. Rain was just stopping and I was in my tree 1.5 hours before sunrise. About 45 minutes before shooting light the chase was on, deer scramblin in every direction under my stand, around the ridge and back, I thought someone was comin after me at first then I heard the Grunts, seamed like from every direction. This lasted about 5 - 10 minutes and then silence. Daybreak came and nothing, then about 8:15am as I was saying to myself that was a fun show, a nice 6 pointer came back up over that same ridge and I was able to put an arrow in him at about 25 yards. He ran 30 and dropped. I get 6 tags here in Ct and thats my first this year after 4 trips to the woods. Can't wait to find the buck that rubbed that 8" cedar I sit next to.
